Bento Box adds to row of sushi

The newest location of Bento Box restaurants opened today in downtown Sacramento. It is the third location of Bento Box, owned an operated by Jonathan Kim. The new store is at the ground floor of the office building at 1600 K St…To bring the former outdoor space up to code, all the utilities and services had to be trenched into the 5,600-square-foot space, and a new slab floor was poured, said Daniel Mueller of Turton Commercial Real Estate. He represented Kim.

Bento Box: Asian Dining in Midtown/Downtown Sacramento Staying Open Late

The recent recession cost Jonathan Kim his job in the building maintenance industry, but it also opened the door for him to follow a dream he’d had for years – owning a restaurant…Turton Commercial Real Estate is working with Kim, and he said the restaurant, which is about 6,000 square feet and will seat approximately 230, has an outside patio that is covered and heated, and there will be a quick-service window where people can pick up a cup of coffee or crepes in the mornings.

Foreclosure Filing Takes Aim at Macy’s Building

Lenders have foreclosed on the downtown Sacramento building that houses the Macy’s store for men and furniture. The foreclosure could be a good thing for the city of Sacramento, downtown broker Ken Turton said, if it results in a new ownership group that is cooperative and knowledgeable about urban retail. The mall, which is reportedly up for sale, could be purchased by a different buyer, or one buyer could purchase both properties.

Sports basement Plans Delayed but Still on Track

Sports Basement hasn’t forgotten Sacramento.The retailer that committed $4.5 million for the former Bank of America Building at 730 I St. last November with plans to open a store there is still proceeding. “Sports Basement is moving forward,” said Ken Turton, the real estate broker who handled the Sports Basement deal.
