Wisconsin Company Buys Midtown Sacramento Bike Shop
Midtown stalwart bike shop City Bicycle Works has been bought by Trek Bicycle Corp. Waterloo, Wisconsin-based Trek manufactures and distributes bikes under brands including Trek, Electra Bicycle Co., Gary Fisher, Bontrager, Diamant Bikes and Villiger Bikes. Scott Kingston and Aaron Marchand of Turton Commercial negotiated the new lease between Trek & the Landlord.
Downtown Sacramento Building from 1961 Sold for $2.2 Million
An office building in the trendy midcentury modern architectural style has sold, with plans for renovations, but not changes. The two-story, 10,000-square-foot building at 1220 H St. in downtown Sacramento sold to Clifford Orloff of Sacramento last month for $2.2 million, according to property records. John Mudgett, a senior director at Turton Commercial Real Estate who brokered the sale on behalf of former owner Cal Del Presidio Investments LLC, described the new owner as a Bay Area-based investor who bought 1220 H St. as the second part of an exchange deal
Historic City Hall is Up for Sale
Downtown pedestrians may see a bright red sign at Third and F streets announcing that historic City Hall is up for sale. The signs don’t lie. The city of Davis is looking for buyers for the renovated former City Hall at 226 F St.— and current home to Bistro 33 and the City Hall Tavern — because a state law no longer permits the city to own it.
Pending Sale Would Bring Mixed-Use Projects Near UC Davis Medical Center
A Los Angeles development company specializing in student housing has a pending deal to acquire land near UC Davis Medical Center for future projects. Tuesday, the Sacramento City Council will vote on approving a $1.49 million sale of 1.55 total acres at 4722 Ninth Ave. and 4601-4025 10th Ave, to College Town International LLC. Turton Commercial Real Estate brokered the properties on behalf of the city.
Potential K Street Building Buyer Would Put Tech Firm on Two Floors
A local real estate investment company has a pending deal to acquire a downtown Sacramento building, and is making early plans for what would fill it. Tuesday, the Sacramento City Council will vote on selling 731 K St. to Cassadyne LLC for $2.1 million. Turton Commercial Real Estate listed 731 K St. on behalf of the city.
TriCap Plans $23 Million Mixed-use Project Near Sacramento State
Though it looks more like something that might pop up in midtown or downtown Sacramento, a new residential and retail project, estimated to cost $23 million, is in the works for 65th Street. Turton Commercial Real Estate handled the sale of the property to TriCap.
Pending Buyer Would Refurbish Clarion, Build Apartments Across Street
Ken Turton of Turton Commercial Real Estate said an unnamed buyer is making plans to refurbish the closed Clarion hotel at 700 16th St. and convert it into studio apartments or re-open it as a hotel.
Planned Sports Basement Site Downtown Sold to Group of Urban Core Developers
A building long planned as a future Sports Basement outlet in downtown Sacramento has sold to a partnership including members of a prominent local development firm. Ken Turton of Turton Commercial Real Estate, who brokered the sale with Aaron Marchand of Turton Commercial, said a winding path for the building’s future got longer over the last couple years. But the partnership involving D&S is well positioned to make something happen there, given the firm’s past history of delivering on attractive, successful urban core projects, he said.
Birkenstock Moves, Expands in Midtown Sacramento
The Budworths moved their business to 2612 J St. on Oct. 1 and celebrated the new store last weekend with Birkenstock CEO David Kahan. Toni Budworth told me she and her husband are celebrating 30 years in the shoe business this year. They started with a small shoe store in Stockton in 1986 and expanded to Sacramento, opening the capital’s first Birkenstock store. Of course, they sell about 20 other brands of shoes, plus socks, handbags, jewelry and other accessories.
Buildings on 10th, 15th Streets in Sacramento Hit Market
Two downtown Sacramento buildings on prominent thoroughfares have hit the market. Turton Commercial Real Estate released an offering memorandum this week for 1011 10th St., also known as the Landmark Building. At the northeast corner of 10th St. and Jazz Alley, the 29,500-square-foot office building is being listed for $3.995 million.
